What is Equine Assisted Learning?

Equine assisted learning is the discipline of using horses as a therapeutic experience. There are many positive benefits for those who participate in equine assisted learning and activity programs.

Programs are hands-on and participants don’t feel as if they are involved in a therapeutic activity. Horses give immediate feedback to actions and body language through mirroring. Participants learn to “read” themselves through this mirroring and learn to act and react appropriately. Participants (we call them Ranchers), learn how to observe, listen, lead and gently car for and communicate with a horse.

Through the programs Rancher will realize many benefits including:

  • Improved Communication Skills
  • Impulse Control
  • Patience
  • Spiritual Connectedness
  • Greater Sense of Confidence
  • Boundaries
  • Perspective
  • Trust
